Rebecca Sousa

Rebecca Sousa is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has been working in the field of social work for over eight years.  She has worked in both inpatient and community settings and has experience working with individuals, families, and couples.  She has worked with people who suffer from both mental and physical illness. Through her work in hospice she provided supportive counseling to terminally ill persons and their family members and is certified as a hospice and palliative care social worker by the National Association of Social Workers.   Along with counseling individuals she also has been a Dementia Caregiver Support Group Facilitator for six years and works closely with the RI Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Her areas of specialty include geriatrics, Alzheimers Disease, grief and loss, end of life issues, anxiety, depression, and caregiver stress.  She primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy to assist clients in identifying problematic thoughts and behaviors and then provides strategies for change.  Her goal is to provide a safe space for adults and older adults to improve their quality of life by addressing problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She is now seeing patients at the East Providence office.
