Nicole Kidd, LMHC

Nicole Kidd is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who earned her Master of Counseling Degree, with concentrations in Child and Family Interventions and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, from Assumption College. Nicole began her career as a behavior specialist working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using primarily home-based treatment. She then went on to work with a crisis stabilization team and assisted in VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) services for youth who were victims of sexual abuse. Next, she worked in the community, both home-based and in the office, with adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health disorders. Most recently, she has provided intensive home-based clinical and crisis intervention services to emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children, who are at imminent risk of hospitalization.
Nicole has over five years’ experience and has treated a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behavioral disorders, adoption issues, grief and trauma, and family issues. She specializes in mood, anxiety, ADHD, and behavioral disorders Nicole is eclectic in her approach, but primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) techniques, which both focus on the “here and now.” Nicole helps clients identify various problems, accepts and validates the client’s feelings, and helps clients gain insight that some feelings and behaviors are maladaptive, and there are better alternatives that need to be identified and utilized. Nicole also draws from Family Therapy, Behavior Modification, and Solution-Focused Therapy, depending on the client’s needs.
Nicole works out of the Anchor Counseling Center office in Cranston, RI. She offers individual, couple, and family therapy. She works hard to create a supportive and safe therapeutic environment to help clients feel comfortable with discussing difficult topics. She is problem-focused and action-oriented, trying to always help client’s understand they must make changes in order to get different results. Therapy sessions are based on the client’s specific goals, which makes treatment effective and purposeful. Nicole’s main goal is to always help client’s improve their overall functioning.
