Tim Dawes, LICSW

Tim Dawes is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, who came to Anchor following a career at Bradley Hospital, where he worked in a variety of programs. Tim did his graduate studies at Boston University before moving to Rhode Island. In addition to his career at Bradley, Tim has worked in private practice, and in the fields of public health and substance abuse treatment.

Tim has a particular aptitude for working with youth who are undergoing difficulties with anxiety, mood issues, impulse control, or anger management. He is skilled at working with youths who have behavioral problems and can be helpful to parents in terms of developing child management strategies. His clinical skill set includes a variety of approaches, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and developing coping skills that youths and their parents can utilize to improve family life. In turn, family therapy is a frequent component of the work Tim does, with the aim of promoting family communication, setting boundaries, solving problems, and improving the overall well-being of the family group.
