Setbacks! Keep moving forward! Every step is meaningful.

Everyone deals with change, setbacks, disappointments, and at times feel like we are stuck in mud or just spinning our wheels.  Although at times, this could be the perception the truth is that no matter what is happening every step along the journey should be meaningful.

The Weekly Compass wrote an article on January 8, 2008.  In the article titled Every Step is forward: No going back they did a great job at pointing out exactly what it means to take a positive spin no matter what curve ball life may have thrown at you.

“There are times when we feel that we are spinning our wheels in the mud in terms of our spiritual progress.  This can be especially true following a period of major growth in which we feel as if we’ve gained a lot of ground.  In fact, this is the way growth goes.”  It is important to note hear that despite making progress in certain areas, there will always be more issues that arise and we should continue to move forward and not consider this a set back.  “The hard work we have done cannot be undone.”

“Every step is meaningful and even one that seems to take us backward is a forward step in the sense that it is what we must do to move to the next level.”  We are constantly working at life.  It doesn’t stop because we have been able to conquer one obstacle.  Life is just that!  We keep living.  Dealing and coping with what the day brings.

“Once the sun rises, it doesn’t go backward but instead follows its path in one direction.  It may appear to stand still for a moment in time, or to move more slowly at some point or another, but really it is steadily moving forward in it’s path.”  Just like the sun is our life.  At times, we wish things we move a little faster but as long as we remain mindful, the journey to our daily goals will continue.  Sometimes slower than others but nevertheless always moving forward.

We can treat ourselves better by making healthier decisions.  Eating healthier, getting more rest or sleep,and exercising.  No matter what old issue may come back and requires revisiting, remember this is a step-forward.  Progress is being made.

Be mindful of what you have accomplished and continue to see life as a journey.  Follow your path (goals) and you will never feel as if you have not accomplished anything.
