She was a believer until….

So we all do our best to keep our children believing in something bigger during the Holiday Season.  For example, good old Saint Nick.  Two years ago, when one of my clients still believed in Santa she was not so presently surprised that for 10 years so was lied to by her parents and the rest of the world.

Although, she often believed that mom had to “buy wrapping paper” for Santa and every movie she ever watched Santa always had his own.  Yet, her mother had to buy it for their house?!

The cookies she had left out for Santa on Christmas eve, were traced back to her father as she found cookie crumbs on his mustache!!!!  Weeks went by and she began to ask multiple questions.  She was sad to find out that their truly wasn’t a Santa.  The thing that children dream about was not real.  She found joy believing in Santa.  All the threats made throughout the year; “if you don’t…  Her childhood she feels was taken.  Santa was her parents.

She was disappointed.  Someone with Anxiety could not understadn the change or understand  how the best time of the year was now just an existance in her imagination.

Today, she keeps the spirit alive because it still brings her joy knowing waking up on Christmas morning Santa was responsible for bringing family together for Christmas.  She hopes her dad will be able to be there this year as well.

I hope he is.  After all someone has to eat the cookies before you wake up.
